Muon spin rotation studies of electronic excitations and magnetism in the vortex cores of superconductors
The focus of this article is on recent progress in muon spin rotation (μSR) studies of the vortex cores in type-II superconductors. By comparison of μSR measurements of the vortex-core size in a variety of materials with results from techniques that directly probe electronic states, the effect of delocalized quasiparticles on the spatial variation of field in a lattice of interacting vortices h...
متن کاملQuasiparticle Excitations outside the Vortex Cores in MgB2 Probed by Muon Spin Rotation
The magnetic penetration depth λ in the mixed state of MgB2 has been determined microscopically from the field distribution around magnetic vortices probed by muon spin rotation. Both the temperature and magnetic field dependence of λ strongly suggest the presence of delocalized quasiparticles around the vortex cores. In particular, the effect of Doppler shift has been clearly observed as a fin...
متن کاملSpin Wave Excitations and Winter’s Magnons in Vertically Coupled Vortex State Permalloy Dots
Circular soft magnetic dots are the main elements of many proposed novel spintronics devices, capable of fascinating spin-based electronics applications, from extremely sensitive magnetic field sensors, to current-tunable microwave vortex oscillators. Here, we investigate static and broadband dynamic magnetization responses of vertically coupled Permalloy (Py) magnetic dots in the vortex state ...
متن کاملSpin excitations in a single La2CuO4 layer.
Cuprates and other high-temperature superconductors consist of two-dimensional layers that are crucial to their properties. The dynamics of the quantum spins in these layers lie at the heart of the mystery of the cuprates. In bulk cuprates such as La(2)CuO(4), the presence of a weak coupling between the two-dimensional layers stabilizes a three-dimensional magnetic order up to high temperatures...
متن کاملSpin excitations in ferromagnetic manganites
An effective one–band Hamiltonian for colossal–magnetoresistance (CMR) manganites is constructed and the spin excitations are determined. Fitting the experimental data by the derived spin–wave dispersion gives an eg–electron hopping amplitude of about 0.2 eV in agreement with LDA band calculations.
